HAMKit VMAC ESP32 v2 Overview

The HAMKit VMAC ESP32 v1, is a small board which provides a very flexible Audio and Video Switching Matrix, with on-board DTMF Decoder, OSD Graphics, Video Signal Detectors and Synchronous Bucks.

Size 100mm x 100mm.  Software is open source.

The HAMKit VMAC ESP32 is supplied as a populated tested SMT board with fit exception of through hole connectors.

The HAMKit VMAC ESP32 is easily software controlled from the on-board ESP32 WROOM 32D.  Software can be easily developed such as using the Arduino IDE, Visual Studio Code and Platform IO IDE, Espressif IDF or Espressif ESP RainMaker.

All software provided is Open Source in order to encourage people to develop and help each other with ideas and applications.  Expanding support will be provided from our Wiki.

Default Configuration:

The default HAMKit VMAC ESP32 Input/Output configuration is:

Inputs

  • 5 x Video inputs via Stacked RCA Connectors or Standard Header Connections.
  • 5 x Audio inputs via Stacked RCA Connectors or Standard Header Connections.

Outputs

  • 1 x Video output via a Stacked RCA Connector or Standard Header Connection.
  • 1 x Audio output via a Stacked RCA Connector or Standard Header Connection.

These input and output types maybe altered by updating the input and output resistors and capacitors as shown in the schematic.

Supplied Built and Configured: 

  • 5 x Video Inputs
  • 5 x Audio Inputs
  • 1 x Video Outputs (TX/Stream/Monitor for example)
  • 1 x Audio Outputs (TX/Stream/Monitor for example)

Ready Built Kit:

  • 1 x HAMKit VMAC ESP32 (Fully built, except through hole connectors, and tested)
  • 1 x Pack of 0805 components (allowing change of input/output types, if needed)

HAMKit VMAC ESP32 has passed EMC to Class B limits.  The Synchronous Buck Converters (for very cool thermal running), also feature an optimised design for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) reduction. The converter features Frequency Spread Spectrum (FSS) with a switching frequency jitter of ±6%, which reduces EMI by not allowing emitted energy to stay in any one frequency for a significant period of time.
